The Inside Man
In a relationship for most of your life - happy at times, sad at others, euphoric, depressed - all the proverbial highs and lows - all of it for so much time... the relationship becomes you. It becomes as cosy and comfortable as sleeping by yourself. And then, one fine day, the relationship turns into a stranger. Sometimes you notice the small things and mostly you dont - the slightly tweaked tastebuds, the altered noise levels, the longer pauses, the shorter conversations, the new silences...almost like someone tampered with the 'audio and video', the 'touch and feel' settings of your life. The you begins to alter itself - ever so slightly - shifting inch by inch - away from you. It slowly emerges outside of you and begins to walk away -a stranger!
So what do you do? Hold on with your life to the strangeness - hold on so tight that you leave marks, scratches and scars on your 'work of art' ensemble of memoirs or let it walk away into the mist whilst you stare at the mirror not recognising yourself.
ps - just had to blog today. somehow putting pen (cil) to paper doesnt seem to have the effect of reaching 'out' - of shouting 'i love you' from the mountain top (kareena in yaadein)
